甘すぎて刺激がない直子世代が乱立し始めた1997年、
アメリカにて
ニルヴァーナ喪失の荒野から芽吹き出したるオルタナ若い衆が攻め始めました。
それいけウィーザー族、
おとぼけキュートのファウンテンズ・オブ・ウェイン登場。
ニュージャージー州モントクレアのベース弾き、
アダム・シュレシンジャーくんが
ペンシルバニア州セラーズビルのヴォーカル、ギター弾きの
クリス・コリングウッドくんが
マサチューセッツ州ウィリアムズタウンのウィリアムズ・カレッジの新入生同士で出会って
色んなバンドで共にプレイして
それから
クリスくんはボストンでMercy Bucketsつバンドを結成、
アダムくんはニューヨークでIvyつバンドを結成して別々の道を歩んだ末、
1995年、
二人は再び組んで

つなんじゃそれのバンド名を経て
閉店したニュージャージー州ウェインの芝生の装飾置物店の名前より
ファウンテンズ・オブ・ウェイン命名、
デモテープ制作して見事アトランティックと契約に成功、
いざ発進
