*ビバップ・デラックス。ギタリスト、ビル・ネルソン氏率いるポストグラム期に登場した英国のバンドです。このアルバムは７７年春のＵＫツアーのライブ盤。どないなバンドかつうとご覧の通りジャケはサイレントのドイツＳＦ映画「メトロポリス」のそりゃもうかっこええ。アナログではＡ面とＤ面が通常のＬＰ仕様、Ｂ面とＣ面がＥＰと称されてそれぞれ１曲、２曲やけに溝の間隔が広い代物でライブはライブなんだけど最後の歓声にエフェクトかけられてギョワーン。私なんかＥＰつうから４５回転でかけちゃって３０秒くらい気付かなかったりして。そんなバンドです。・・・って訳わからん。編成はトッド長い顔氏のユートピアと同じ。アレンジの感覚も似てる。音楽がリトルフィート思い出し。余裕の気持ち良いわーのヴォーカルに乗って緩いくせにギンギンに張り詰めた演奏が。この編成つうとロリーのギャラガーさんも思い出します。ビル氏のギター・スタイルが共通するわ。音楽はまるで共通せず。同じ楽器使って同じ編成でこれだけ違う。ロックって滅茶苦茶面白くだから止められません。で、どんなバンドなんだ。ファンキーだけど物凄い英国、ＳＦだけど呑気、呑気だけど鬼気迫る、ポップだけどちいとも曲が覚えられない。結局訳わかりません。その訳のわからなさが最大の魅力かと。もちろんわからねーとか言ってるのはこっちだけで、やってるバンドはもの凄くわかってます。練りに練られたアレンジを構築、ライブで何も無いところに音を立ち上げてカチカチッってはめ合わせて見事にはまって行く快感が。はまって行くうちにバンドも予想しないマジックが降って来てこの音となり。最初は何だこりゃと当惑するも何かあり何か有りと気になってしょうがなく、繰り返し聴いていく内にバチっとはまる瞬間到来。来たら最後、夢中になって一にビバップ、２にビバぷ、３，４が無くていらっしゃああいってことになってしまうそれがビバップ・デラックス。来るまで聴かなかったら棚の花。えらく敷居の高い難攻不落ロックの称号を是非授与させてください。そうゆうとこもリトル・フィートに酷似。元来ケチな私はこうゆうスルメ音楽が大好きです。値段の１００倍楽しめちゃうもんね。もちろん、そうゆう意味でアクの塊ですから、まるで合わない可能性も大有りだ。アヴァンギャルドでもＰＯＰでもネタ割れで口触りの良い２１世紀に突き付けられた７０’ｓのとんでもロック。買わなきゃ宝くじも馬券も当たりません。大穴当たるって相当快感です。
