*ずっと欲しかったコモドアーズの１ｓｔを買うことが出来ました。いやＣＤ化はされてるんですけど値段の関係でどうしても中古ＬＰを探してまして。ＣＤ自体安いんで差額はそれほどでも無かった。ケチだぜワシ。コモーズの何が好きかって言ったってそりゃもゴリゴリのファンク。後期リチ夫のでろりんバラードは勘弁。それでもイージーまではイカしてたんだけどあのスリー・タイムズ・ア・レイディにはさすがにまいった。さー１ｓｔです。結成は67年アラバマ州で。地元の２つのバンドが合体して誕生、しばらく南部と東部の大学コンサートで活躍、最初に人気に火が付いたのがヨーロッパだってんだから妙にワールドワイドだ。ロンドンのクラブや地中海遊覧豪華客船のハコバン、ゲットそこでの評判をひっさげて帰国。待っていたのが７０’ｓのニュー展開を求めていたモータウンのお偉いさんたちでした。まずはジャクソン５、エディケン、スティーヴィー・ワンダーさんらとパッケージ・ショーの毎日。知名度アップにいそしみ、レコーディング・セッションで腕を磨き、満を持して74年にこのアルバムで登場です。全員が曲書けてそれぞれ微妙に味違うだけに最初から波乱含み、プロデューサーも３チームとどれが受けるかさーお立会いって感じかな。最初に当たったのはヒット第一候補の鍵盤奏者ミラン・ウイリアムズ君作のインストでした。１．のマシン・ガーン。ジミさんのとはもち同名異曲す。これ全日本プロレスの何だったかな次回シリーズ外人予告の音楽だったかな、ワンダーさんの迷信の路線をさらに華々しく開花させるクラヴィネット＆ファンキ・シンセ大爆発の曲。つっかかるようなドラムス、ぱたこんコンガ、ぺろりんギターのグルーヴに乗せて踊る踊るクラヴィ。これだぜベイベ、コモーズは。２．はベースのロナルド君とペットのキングさんの曲。辛い辛いメロの黒々ファンクね。３．は全員作。これまたどファーンク。ブルース転じてファンクとなるがよーくわかるメロディ、ギター・リフに絡むラッパ、それとユニゾンのハーモニカはウォーの快感継承ですこれがまた気持ちよか。ポンプ・ベースもばりばり登場。シングル・カットしたもこれだけ辛いとポップ・チャートではさすがに最高位７５位止まりです。黒チャートでは最高位１２位。４．はミラン君作、一大ブームとなりました「ザ・バンプ」。アメリカ漫画でよく出ます擬音「ＢＯＭＢ」とか、その一つが「ＢＵＭＰ！」。ソウルに不可欠なのが踊り、尻や肩やあっちこっちをぶつけてお尻あいになろうつう直球ダンス・スタイルの代名詞曲となりました。日本でも確かコモドアーズって最初はバンプのバンドって感じでキワモノ一発屋さんイメージがあったかも。それだけインパクト強し。時は経てど腰がムズムズしてくる永久のスケベソングです。音楽って特にノリノリのやつは何かしら参加したいものねえ。歌、演奏したいけど出来ないなら踊り、そしてまたはメロ歌いが無理ならしゃべくりラップって。ですからラップって踊りみたいなものでこれだけは特殊じゃ無かったかと最近思う次第。特殊で光るみたいな。ってこれは余計でした。Ａ面ラストはこれもミラン君、クラヴィ大活躍のマシーン・ガーンおまけ編。Ａ面は見事に統一されたどファンク・サイド。至福の時を過ごせます。裏返してＢ面。あらー雰囲気全く違い。６，７はパム・ソイヤー＆グロリア・ジョーンズとゆう英国ソウル勢作制作。グロリアさん？？？？マーク・ボラン氏の奥さんじゃないか。パムさんはダイアナ・ロスお嬢のラブ・ハングオーバーを作った方。なんつうか哲学的つうか不思議にドラマチックな２曲です。７．なんか「人間動物園」だもんな。ＳＦだ。歌詞見るとかなりシニカル。曲はコミカル。８．は戻ってミラン君のファンクで、無常なほどの辛さぶり。ガキの頃はこのディープさに付いて行けなかったけど慣れましたからこうゆう濃いのがめっきり美味いです。ラスト２曲はリッチーさん主導で。とは言ってもまだバラードしてなくファンク。でもミラン君のとはまるっきり味が違い。かなりディープはディープだけどどっかバックが噛み合って無いような。ドラムスが特にギクシャクしてます。この辺、仲がいいとか悪いとかあるような気がしたりして。元々２バンドが合体だもんな、色々人間関係あるのかも。ラストのスーパーマンもシングルカット。そのあたりの影響もあったか全然あかんでこれでしばらくミラン君のファンクがバンドのど真ん中となり私も大喜び、がっちりはまった時のコモドアーズ・ファンクはもう最強なのだ。
